The easiest, and most boring way in my opinion is to go to an travel agency to book your trip. I think it’s fun to find out how you can travel to a new place or country. Also, when you do it yourself, it will be cheaper.
There are multiple options how you can travel to a country, a plane, the train or the bus. For me, the bus is a not an option. Im almost 2 metres long and a long bus ride will be very uncomfortable. So I choose between a plane or the train. To choose between them, the distance is something I will look at, the price and how the connections are. For example, I traveled from Berlin to Warsaw which is about 600 km. You probably think a plane will be faster, but not by much. Most of the time there will be a direct train from a big city to another big city. In this case there was one also. The train ride was about 6 hours. When a trip is more then 700 km I will opt for a plane.
When you go on a plane you will have to go the airport, which will be on the outskirts of the city, so you will have to travel to it. You have to be there much earlier and then you have to go through the check-in procedure. If you have bought a normal size shampoo bottle, you cant take it with you. When you arrive at the airport, you will have to go from the airport to the city where you are staying.
When you travel by train you just go to the train station, there is no check-in and you can carry everything you want. To me, it is much less hassle to travel by train.
Every country will have an app where you can book train rides. For example, in Portugal the app is called CP. For traveling in Portugal I just buy the tickets via the app which is very easy.
When I travel by plane, most of the time I will travel with Ryanair. I only carry hand luggage so I don’t have to pay for extra luggage. I never go for the extra options like fast check-in or something like that. One tip, don’t order coffee on the plane, it’s horrible and expensive. In this way I traveled from the Netherlands to Portugal for 62 euro’s and from Warsaw to the Netherlands for 53 euro’s.
