More then a week ago I got back to The Netherlands again. I wasn’t planning on that when I went on my trip, but looking back, it was the right decision to go back. My feet are still bothering me quite a lot so if I stayed, I had to take quite a lot of rest days to get my feet back into some normal condition. Also, the last week I’ve been sleeping a lot! Each night at least 9 hours. The last night was the first night I didn’t sleep when I hit the bed.
After quitting my job I had to turn in my laptop but I’ve done some research and got a new one! It is what they call a business laptop. I’m not a gamer so I don’t care that much about the videocard. The keyboard is more important for me and a business laptop has a much better keyboard then a normal consumer laptop. Also, it’s much easier to blog and maintain this site on a laptop then on a mobile phone.
To get and stay a bit active and fit, I’ve got myself a pair of running shoes. And the plan is to go running in the morning. It’s also a nice way to discover the city where I am. With for example the app Strava you can discover routes that other people are walking.
So what about my travel plans? I’ve got myself a train ticket for july 18 to Berlin! In my experience, in Europe, when you travel like 600 km, it’s almost always a lot cheaper to travel by train and when you look at the travel time from door to door, a plane won’t be a lot faster. The first week I’ll be sleeping in a “eco” hostel. The hostel is just outside of the city centre in a forrest. There are a lot of trails in the forrest which will be fun (I hope) with my new running shoes.
Also I’ve booked 1 night at a somewhat special hotel, the michelberger hotel. It is a bit of a hipster hotel and they have also quite a lot of music. For example, one of my favorite live shows has been shot here, Damien Rice live! I am a bit of a fan and I think this is the best live recording of him.
I’ve got ideas for after Berlin but that will come at a later time.
