At 5:45 the alarm on my phone went off. Ugh, I wanted no alarms during my trip but the bus only goes once a day from Karesuando to Kiruna at 6:40. Also I had to walk a few kilometres to the bus station. I was there at 6:30 and another traveler arrived a couple of minutes later.
He was carrying street skies! They are skies which are about 80 cm long but with small skateboard wheels on the front and back. During the bus ride we talked and he skied on the road all the way from the south of Sweden to the North! One of conclusions we came to was that the stupid things are the most interesting you can do.
I was earlier a man from Chechia with a step! The went to the Nordkapp all the way with that thing. It’s nice to see what people can do. Some time ago I read a blog from a woman that said, all the bad decisions I make are at 6 in the morning after being awake the whole night. That moment she entered a bicycle race for the same day. 200 km through mountains and so on. There was 1 condition, before the race you have to choose 1 gear and you can’t change it during the race.
It’s fun when people are seeing what they actually can do.
In Kiruna I had to wait for 4 hours for the next train, but that was allright. There was a problem with the trains so we got the bus instead, which took quite a lot longer. Arriving around 4:30 am at Abisko I found a bed in a hostel. The hostel was more expensive then what I’m used to, but in the general area there is a kitchen where you can cook your own food and the bed is pretty good also.
Tomorrow morning I will start on the Kungsleden trail and the weather is looking good! A lot of sun but quite cold.
