I’ve got the first 3 weeks of june of from work, it’s my summer vacation. I decided to have a try out in Southern Sweden. The reason why there is that I can drive to it in a day, the weather is normal but the landscape is completely different.
It’s in a couple of weeks so I started gathering gear that (I think) I need. I have to admit, a bit of wilderness is waking up in me, I’m thinking to get a small axe, still thinking about reasons to justify to bring an axe 🙂 But mostly I’m thinking about the normal things. How to cook food and what food to bring for example. Also a self care kit if something goes wrong.
I think it’s important to get the basics right. Sleeping, shelter (tent) and food. I’m not planning to save on these things. A good night sleep is important and energy for a day hiking also. The place I’ll be hiking is populated so if something goes wrong, there is the possibility to stay in a hotel or something like that.
last week I was talking to something who gave me a number of tips. One of the tips was to bring a note with all the equipment you bring on it so you can cross off thing you have used. When you come back you will know what you didn’t use so you can decide not to bring it the next time.
I will keep you up-to-date with the gear I got and of course my experiences is the south of Sweden! My camera is coming with me so I’ll post the best pictures here.
