The weather has been quite good the first 3 days, but yesterday, saturday all hell came down!
After a morning run on wednesday I was going out to try to rent a mountainbike. After visiting 3 different companys who are renting bikes, I couldn’t find a mountainbike. I was already in the city centre so I walked a bit, also through the Tiergarten park. It’s basicly like the Vondelpark in Amsterdam, but a lot bigger, so it is not that crowded. At the end of the afternoon I made it back to the hostel. The city was so busy and it’s so nice and quiet in the hostel. There were a number of people sitting in the garden so I joined them.
Thursday was a quiet day for me. Went for my morning run and after that I chilled out at the common room in the hostel. Most of the people were gone and watches some series. Eventually people were coming back and we got some food and relaxed in the garden.
After an easy day I had more energy so I decided to rent a bike to go to the city centre. The bike was quite small but it was okay. In my opinion, the best way to explore Berlin is on a bike. It is such a big city so walking to everything will be too far. The public transport is reasonable good, but you still need to walk quite a lot to get to the place you want to go. With a bike it’s a lot easier to visit multiple places. I’ve biked about 40 km and at the and of the afternoon I was back again. In the evening we decided to go for a swim in a lake quite close to the hostel. Swimming in the water felt great! The water wasn’t cold and it was so pretty. After all the exercise I was tired, but it was a good day.
On saturday there was the German gay parade here in Berin and a friend from The Netherlands was also visiting Berlin, so we decided to go to the parade together. We met at the Siegessaule, which is a big tower in the middle of the street close to the Brandenburger Tor. You can climb it and you have a good view of Berlin and the parade. It started to rain when we were in the tower and after a view moments all hell broke lose. The rain got so bad we even couldn’t see the Brandenburger Tor anymore. The parade was still going and everyone in the parade was soaking wet. After some time the rain was over and we joined the parade.
