Yesterday day I arrived very tired at the cabins after hiking in the snow and through rivers. I got a bed, had some food and went to bed. After waking up I looked at the maps where the route was going. The route went higher up in the mountains. After talking to the people from the cabins it was clear that there would be a lot more snow on the chosen route. It is very unusual that there is so much snow at this time.
I had enough snow at the North Cape and I wasn’t planning to go through deep snow again. After studying the maps I saw that there was another route to get to Nikkaluokta. This is a small tourist town and I opted for this route. It was about 20 km to the next cabin.
After setting of I encountered some snow but that wasn’t too bad. After a couple of hours I went down a bit in the tree line. Because the snow is melting the ground was pretty wet so after a day of hiking your shoes will be wet. Around 5 pm I arrived at the next cabin which looked very nice and cosey. The woman working there was very nice and relaxed and they even had a sauna!
After some time other people also arrived and a nice man from England was already there. After cooking and a sauna we had a nice time talking and a beer.
From this cabin it was normally a 2 day hike to Nikkaluokta. The distance is 34 km. In the evening I decided I would try to do it in 1 day.
