It takes a little bit of getting used to be here. I went to bed at midnight and it was still clear as day. I think the best for me is to get tired enough so I can sleep, even when it isn’t dark.
This morning I went to the Shell station to get some spiritus for my burner. After that I packed my pack and walked to the city centre of Honningsvag, to get some matches and a ticket for the bus to the Nordkapp. With all the food and 2 litres of water, the pack feels heavy!!
After waiting an hour the bus left to the Nordkapp! I was the only one in the bus, the driver was talking about the weather, that the snow is still here and some of the lakes were still frozen. Looking out of the window, I saw a lot of snow and I could hear the wind blowing hard against the bus. When you are setting there alone, you start to think if this was my brightest plan ever…. Probably not! And I’m there, so lets go!
I took some pictures but unfornately the vog was getting in. I did put on my hardhell jacket for the wind, and that was a smart plan! Nowhere to hide and the wind is blowing hard. I started walking and the ground is covered with rocks, you have to watch where you are walking. It didnt took long to encounter the first snow. At some places the snow is maybe a metre high. After 4 km battleling snow and rocks I went to the street. At least this goes faster.
I did about 14 km today and I’m so tired. The cold wind really takes the energy from your body. I found a nice place for my tent and also a place for dinner. The wind was so cold that the rice was cold again before I could eat it. Combining it with cheese and salami, it still wasn’t so bad. To get warm I’m in my sleeping bag now. Tomorrow is another day in paradise!
