In part 1 and part 2 I write about the choices I’ve made in my personal life that made it possible to start with my thru hike. The start of my thru hike is coming closer! In about two weeks I’ll be boarding a plane to go to the Nordkapp.
So what about the coming two weeks? Well, there is quite a lot on my schedule. There are two main subjects. First of all, I’m meeting up with my friends and family for the last time before I leave. It’s not gonna be a big party with all the people there, but I’m gonna meet up with them personally. It’s nice to have a big party but then you’re not gonna talk to eachother. Also, the people that I know are living in different parts of The Netherlands, so a big meet up is hard to arrange. The last weekend I’m spending the saturday with my family.
The second thing is work. I like the work that I’m doing, working in hospitals with the EHR system. It’s important for me to end my current job and assignment in a positive way. The last day I’m working ( June 9) looks to be a good day. There is a user group meeting and I’m gonna give a presentation about a project I’ve been working on. In this way I’m ending my job on a high note.
As I told before in part 2 of this series, I’ve canceled the rent on my appartment. Logically I’ve also canceled the contract with the internet supplier and also with gas and energy company. This is harder then you’re thinking. If you are doing something else then what they are expecting you’ll do, It will not go smoothly. For example, they keep sending bills even though I haven’t got a contract. After contact it seems like there a glitch in their system. Also, they want to charge money because you’re canceling the contract in a way that isn’t fair.
